Olga Alber
Miss
Olga Alber was born at Trenton, Missouri, January 19, 1898, daughter of Lena and
Christian Alber. Preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Dorothea Gamlin, Mrs.
Emma Minard, and Miss Ellen Alber, Seattle, Washington and two brothers, Carl
Alber and Albert Alber.
She
graduated from the Nebraska City High School in 1916. She attended Peru
State Teachers College of Peru, Nebraska, for two years and then obtained her
Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Chicago and her Masters Degree
from the Columbia University, New York City. She attended summer session
of the University of Vienna, Austria, the University of Oslo, Norway, and the
German Academy of Political Science at Tutsing near Munich, Germany.
She
taught for eight years in Nebraska and for 36 years at Rosedale High School in
Kansas City, Kansas. She also taught for three summer sessions at Peru
State Teachers College. She was a member of the First Presbyterian PV
P.E.O. Sisterhood, Nebraska City, Nebraska; Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Honorary
Organization, Kansas City, Kansas; AARP Association.
She
traveled extensively, touring Europe, the Orient, South America, Mexico, Cuba,
Canada and Hawaii. She returned to Europe several times to visit in her
mother and father’s home in and around Stuttgart.
She
moved to Wesley Terrace, a retirement home, at Des Moines, Washington, in 1977,
where was living at the time of her death.
