William Homer Burnett
Born, Feb 18, 1845, at Milton, Vt. After
graduation he was employed by the Rutland and Burlington R. R. Co., in the
general ticket office until the following June. He then went to Kewanee,
Ill., as station and freight agent, where he remained until his health
failed. Deciding to go among the mountains, his friends presented him a
purse of one hundred and twenty-five dollars, which was collected in a few
minutes, and he went to Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory, where he lived three or
four months. In his last sickness he was visited by the Episcopal and
Methodist clergymen, both of whom thought he died a Christian.
He died at Cheyenne, Wyoming Territory, Oct. 23,
1869.
