Sarah Jane Jones Gibson
In Lafayette, Ca, November 1, 1938
Mrs. Sarah Jane Jones Gibson succombs to heart
attack late Tuesday.
A Pioneer resident of California and active
member of the Lafayette community since March of 1936, Mrs. Sarah J.
Gibson, 64, passed away Tuesday afternoon as a result of a heart attack.
Active in womans circles both here and in
Oakland, her death came as a shock to this community where she and her husband
have made their home for the past two and a half years. Though she
had not been in perfect health for some time, the seriousness of her aliment had
not been generally recognized.
Mrs. Gibson was a native of Washington, being
born near the city of Walla Walla, Washington, in 1874. In 1889, at the
age of 15, she moved to Monterey county, later marrying Mr. James Monroe Gibson.
The couple moved to Lafayette from Thorton, in the San Joaquin valley, to
establish their home and business here.
In her passing she leaves, in addition to her
husband, her mother and a brother, Mrs. Alice Jones and Mr. R. L. Jones, both of
Pacific Grove; and four children, True Don Gibson (Don Gibson), Mrs. Beatrice
Norton and Mrs. Rose Ransom, all of Oakland, and Mrs. Birdie Pierce of Guinda,
Yolo County. Science funeral services were held yesterday, Thursday, at
the Chapel of Memories, Oakland Columbarium, in a public service at 2 O'clock.
That's all I got. Don't know what paper.
Lafayette and all other cities with state not mentioned, are from CA.
thanks
Donna
