Rueben David Malone was the son of Thomas & Margaret Emily (Potter) Malone, and was born at Wolf Station (Cleveland, OH) on April 18, 1868. He was 71 years 11 months and 3 days at the time of death. At the age of 12, he come to Iowa with his parents, and lived around Denison and later moved to Dow City.
On January 1, 1894 he was united in marriage to Amelia Catherine Renz, a daughter of Conrad and Ernestine (Lippmann) Renz. They were married in Hanover Township by Rev Fegtly.
They lived on a farm in Paradise Township, Kenwood, Iowa South & West. In 1896 they moved to the farm west of where they had lived a lifetime, having 13 children, 8 boys and 5 girls. They were farmers.
He is preceded in death by one son, Harry Dewey who died in infancy and a daughter, Dolly who died in 1931 of childbirth. He also leaves 5 brothers, 2 sisters, his wife, Amelia and 11 children. His wife still resides at the farm home. He was always an honest, kind man and first thoughts were for his wife, family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 20, 1940 at Dow City with Rev. Greenwood officiating.
