William Walters Obituary
The following appeared in The Pantagraph on February 2, 1910
Died at Danvers
William Walters expired Tuesday Afternoon at Age of 75
William Walters died at the home of his nephew J. H. Walters
of Danvers at 2:15 p.m. The death was due to the debilities of age.
Mr. Walters was born on August 25, 1835 at Marion County Ohio.
He moved to Tazewell county when a boy. He enlisted in Company B, 3rd
Illinois Cavalry in 1861 and served four years. After the war he settled
up on a farm six miles southwest of Danvers which he now owns. He moved to
Danvers in 1894 and has made his home with a nephew where he died. He was
a member of the Presbyterian church in Danvers
He leaves four brothers and two sisters; James of Sheldon, Mo,
John of Bloomington, Ill, Isaiah of Tazewell, Ill., Jerry of Bloomington, Mrs.
Jane McConkey and Ellen McConkey of Stanford, Ill.
The funeral will be held in the Presbyterian church in Danvers
at 10:00 a.m. Friday. The burial will be at the Indiana church cemetery two
miles northeast of Stanford. There will be a short service there also.
