I have recently been starting to put together a book of my families history. I am still working on my family tree, but am having a hard time finding information on my great-grandpartents and some of my grandparents. I have been searching all over the internet trying to find any information about when and when they died. They websites I have visited will only give me information if I pay, which I am not willing to do. I am not only trying to find information on my surname McKerracher, but am also trying to find information on the surnames Hall and Cooper. Any help (such as which websites to visit or what books to look at) would be much appreciated. sararm88@hotmail.com George Benjamin White Jr. 8/1996 Tulsa, Oklahoma Bristow, Oklahoma Father was George B. John Snyder Blaise Shepherd (a/k/a Dudley E. Blaise Jr.) April 2, 2002 Cox Hospital, Springfield, Missouri Veterans Memorial Cemetery (cremation arranged by Lohmeyer Funeral Home) John Snyder Blaise Shepherd was born October 3, 1937 at American Hospital, Mexico City. He was the first-born son of Clara Olive Snyder Blaise and of Dudley Eugene Blaise, who was the president of El Cedro Silver Mining Company at Guanajuato, Gto., Mexico. His name was recorded on his Mexican birth certificate as: Dudley Eugene Blaise y Snyder, the son of Clara Olive Snyder Blaise and Dudley Eugene Blaise. He was a grandson of Mabel Mitchell Snyder and John Abbott Benham Snyder of Joplin, Missouri, where his grandfather founded and operated the Snyder Bus Line until it was sold to the Crown Coach Company at his death in 1931. He was also a grandson of Greek Miller Blaise and Eugene Frank Blaise, a Tulsa banker, oil man and mine operator, who headed as president The Farmer's National Bank of Tulsa, The Admirlty Zinc Company and the Cushing Refining & Gasoline Company (later merged with Mid-Continent, then Sun Oil Company). He was christened in the First Presbyterian Church in Joplin, Missouri, where he was graduated from Columbia Elementary School and Joplin High School, Class of 1955. He was a member of the National Honor Society, editor of The JHS Spyglass, a straight A Latin scholar, and a captain in the R.O.T.C. He worked part-time during high school as a photographer for Tom Korn Studios and as an editor of a small commercial newspaper. He also served as an assistant scout master at First Presbyterian Church and as a counselor at Boy Scout Camp Ni-Ka-Ga-Hah. He served an altar boy from 1950 to 1956 and an officer of the Young Peoples Service League at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Joplin. He place second in a men's regional southwest Missouri archery tournament at the age of 18. He served two years (1962-1964) with the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss, Texas, where he first complained of a gradual loss of hearing. Two years following his discharge from the Army, physicians discovered that a very large brain tumor, one that had apparently been growing since he was a small child, when he was stabbed in the head by a neighbor boy and hit in the head with a rock thrown by another neighbor boy. He attended Missouri Southern (Jr.) College, Kansas State College at Pittsburg, Southwest Missouri State University at Springfield, where he was employed part-time as a lifeguard, and the University of Oklahoma, from where he was awarded a B.S. degree in business administration. He was a treasurer of the Young Republican Club at Univesity of Oklahoma. While a student and following his graduation, he was employed by the Univesity of Oklahoma. He was operated three times for a brain tumor: at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa in 1966; at the Mayo Clinic in 1966; and at Parkland Hospital in Dallas in about 1978, leaving him deaf in one ear, with facial nerve paralysis, and with chronic seizures. He died in Springfield, Missouri, following approximately 30 years of being a missing person. He was last seen by his brother, Tom, during the spring of 1970, shortly before he went missing. Apparently he was an inpatient and outpatient many, many times at Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, and at Cox Hospital in Springfield, where he died of a brain seizure, complicated by penumonia and multiple brain lesions after lapsing into a coma. His only surviving relative, his brother, Thomas Mitchell Blaise Shepherd, did not learn of his death until January, 2004. Anyone who had contact with my brother during the last 30 years of his life, especially during last ten years of his life in Springfield, where he reportedly occasionally stayed at the Victory Mission or the Missouri Hotel (also a mission), please contact me, his brother, Tom Shepherd. You can find out more information about my brother and our family, including photographs of him as a small child and as a young man, at The John Shepherd Memorial web site, URL listed below. My brother and I were deserted by our father right after my birth in 1938. Neither our father now our paternal grandfather, a 32nd Degree mason, showed any interest in us, nor did they voluntarily contribute one dime to our support. Our mother had to go to work when we were still infants in order to support us, and our maternal grandmother, Mabel Mitchell Snyder, a wonderful, wonderful woman, reared us, until our mother remarried in 1950. existential-society-press@msn.com htttp://www.surfingman10.org/TheJohnShepherdMemorial.html
