He continued to live down there until 1942 when after the death of his wife he moved to San Diego, California with his two youngest children and lived there until his death. He was preceeded in death by his daughter Mary J. Lafferty Harcrow and his son John Albert Lafferty. Two infants Santiago and Billy Lafferty. His daughter Pat Lafferty Sage passed away on May 21. Five days after Jim died. His list request was to be cremated and his ashes scatter in the Roswell, New Mexico are where his ranch had been.
