He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jane Woolums. They were married for 60 years. Mr. Woolums was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Highland County, son of the late Glen and Grace Gustin Woolums. His teaching and coaching career spanned four decades. He was a dedicated basketball coach at Dayton Roosevelt High School, where he won 10 city championships, two district titles and the state championship in 1960. He was inducted into the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church, Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Antioch Temple, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and the Lions Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served during World War II. He graduated in 1943 from Wilmington College, then received his master’s degree from Miami University.

He is survived by his wife. They were married Nov. 7, 1954. Mr. Culberson was born June 22, 1930, in Warren County, son of the late Dean and Myra Johnson Culberson. He started Ralph’s Pure Oil in 1962, which later became Ralph’s Sunoco, which he owned and operated until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Quentin and Dale Culberson; two sisters, Pauline Woodell and Albertine Greimann; and a grandson, Ronald Eugene Hawkins.

Mr. VanHoose was born Aug. 4, 1945, in Paintsville, Ky., a son of Don and Belle Long VanHoose. He was a member of the class of 1963 at Carlisle High School where he played on the school basketball team. Mr. VanHoose was a veteran serving as a fireman in arson investigations. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and loved to travel. Mr. VanHoose retired from General Motors in 1998 from the engine plant in quality control.

Robert E. Chesnut, 83 Tuesday - March 28, 2006 Springwood Rehabilitation Center Palms Memorial Park - Sarasota, Florida Of Sarasota, Fla., died. His wife of 63 years, survives. Mr. Chesnut was born on Aug. 25, 1922, in Melvin, Ohio. Mr. Chesnut and his wife both graduated from New Vienna High School. They moved to Sarasota in 1953 from Ohio. Mr. Chesnut was a retired electrician. He was a 50-year member of I.B.E.W. 915 and a founding member of the Covenant Life Presbyterian Church of Sarasota, where he remained a member at the time of his death. Mr. Chesnut was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was awarded five Bronze Stars with “V” for valor.

John Rabe His home near Leavittsville Grandview Cemetery John Rabe, farmer, passed away Friday after a sickness following a stroke of paralysis. Funeral services were held Sunday, conducted by Rev. McBroom of Dellroy, and interment was made in the mausoleum in Grandview cemetery, Carrollton. The deceased was born March 15, 1850. He was married about forty years ago. His wife survives him.

Boda, Chipukaizer , Shearer Three Killed Going To Football Game Three persons were killed and a fourth was seriously injured when the automobile in which they were riding collided with a truck on the highway between Newark and Granville last Saturday morning. The dead are Dr. A. W. Boda, Enoch Chipukaizer and Frank A. Shearer of Bowerston. Frank Bowers, also of Bowerston, is in the Newark City hospital in a critical condition. The four men were on their way to the Ohio State-Princeton game at Columbus. While rounding the Dugway curve, half way between Newark and Granville, their machine met head-on with a truck driven by Arthur Spence of Columbus. Two of the victims, Dr. Boda and Chipukaizer, were instantly killed and their bodies badly burned when fire caused by the explosion of the gasoline tank, swept the car. Bowers and Shearer were rescued by the driver of the truck and taken to the hospital. Shearer died before it could be reached, but hope is held for the other's recovery. Boda and Chipukaizer were burned beyond recognition and identification was made only by the rings which they wore. Doctor Boda has resided in Bowerston for the past three years and enjoyed a successful practice. He established an office there after completing his work at Ohio State University. Fraternally he was a member of the Orange lodge at Leesville. Funeral services were held at his home Sunday and burial will be made at Mr. Vernon on Tuesday. He is survived by his parents, wife and one four year old son. Frank Shearer came to Bowerston over a year ago from Sherodsville. He is the owner of the Buff Mountain Stone quarry and the Sherodsville Cut Stone company, both located at Sherodsville. Mr. Shearer was a graduate of Oberlin college. He was a prominent business man in the community. He is survived by his wife, who is a teacher of music in the Bowerston school, and one daughter. Enoch Chipukaizer, a former Carroll-co boy and well known in Carrollton was a graduate of the Orange-tp high school. He was a Mason and member of the Grotto at Uhrichsville. Mr. Chipukaizer was the director of the Bowerston band and often played with the Carrollton organization in other years. He is survived by his wife and one son, aged 3, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Chipukaizer, one sister Helen of Wheeling W. Va., and two brothers. Mr. Bowers was associated with Mr. Chipukaizer in the management of the Motor Service company and were both successful young men.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He married on July 4, 1953 in Hamilton. He retired from the United State Post Office in 1995, after 25 years of service. He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Moose Lodge and the K of C. He is survived by his wife and a sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Raymond, Troy and M. L. Durbin and a sister, Imogene Johnson. A Memorial Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Treva Irene Fall, 82 Friday - March 31, 2006 McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital Collinsville Cemetery Of Collinsville, passed away. Born in Seven Mile on June 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Alma (Stock) Cunningham. On July 11, 1944 in Middletown, Treva married her husband of over 61 years. She was a retired Postmaster from Collinsville Post Office after 27 years of service. She was a member of the Collinsville Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Fall is survived by her husband; son and his wife; daughter and her husband, all of Hamilton; grandchildren; step-grandson; eleven great-grandchildren. Treva was also preceded in death by her sister, Jane Gorman. Funeral services will be held at 10a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2006.

Rev. Robert K. Foster, 92 March 30, 2006 McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital - Oxford A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was a man who loved Christ. Pastor Emeritus of the Oxford Presbyterian Church and retired Director of Miami University's chapels, Rev. Foster was born on December 30th, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois to Donald and Laura Foster. He graduated from Hanover College and from McCormick Theological Seminary. In 1939, he married and held a three congregation pastorate: Reily, Camden, and Somerville Presbyterian Churches from 1939 to 1942. He then became the minister of the Oakley Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati. He served as a chaplain of the 363rd Fighter Group of the 9th Air Force from 1943 to 1945. The 363rd was sent to England in 1943 and became the first Air Force unit in France after the D-Day Invasion. It was later attached to Gen. George Patton's 3rd Army and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. From 1948 to 1950, he was director of the Westminster Foundation for Presbyterian students at the University of Cincinnati. From 1950 to 1959, he was a minister in Great Bend, Kansas followed by a pastorate at the 2nd Presbyterian Church in Chicago. In 1960, Rev. Foster became the minister of the Oxford Presbyterian Church. He served the congregation for nineteen years and upon retirement, he became the director of Miami University's Chapels. Rev. Foster is survived by his wife of almost 67 years and by his two daughters, two granddaughters, two grandsons, eight great grandchildren.

Rodney Earl Wettstein January 30, 2006 His Residence - Quinlan, Texas Cremation Affectionately known as Rotten Rod, Hot Rodder, Dad and Grandpa Texas, born March 9, 1941, in Kiel, Wisconsin, happily went in peace to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Violet Wettstein; brother Eugene Wettstein; and sister Doris Hostettler. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, son and daughter-in-law, granddaughters, grandsons, brothers, and sister-in-law and many special nieces and nephews. He was married to Lauri (Lolli Brown) Spasoski from 1969-1989. He was a press operator and foreman for the Times Advocate, Escondido, Calif., for 27 years and for Publishers Offset in San Diego later. No press was too big for him to run or too broken for him to fix. He retired to Quinlan, Texas, in 1994 to fulfill one of his life dreams of living by the lake and fishing. Rod graduated from Kiel High School in 1959. He was in the U.S. Army from 63-65. He was a member of American Legion and Amvets. He played rocking chair baseball and basketball in the Escondido City leagues and was always ready for 18 holes of golf with co-workers, friends and family. He will long be remembered for his quick wit and being a friend to anyone crossing his path. If you heard laughter, he was probably in the middle of it. He was active in school sports for his children while they attended Grace Lutheran School, in Y-Indian Guides, Escondido American Little League and track at San Pasqual High School in Escondido, Calif. Cremation was handled by Quinlan Funeral Home. His cremains will be scattered at sea in San Diego, Calif. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 18, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Escondido.

After graduating from the Escuela Normal in Santiago, Panama, Leticia went to the United States in 1946 to study at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, receiving her B.A. two years later. She taught at the Escuela Normal in Panama and in 1951 moved to France to marry (Omitted) whom she had met in Maryville, Missouri. They both returned to the United States when her husband accepted a teaching position at Cottey College, Nevada, Missouri in 1955 and in 1957 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where they settled down. When, in 1963, she completed her M.A. degree in Spanish from Miami University, Leticia taught language courses in both the French and Spanish departments. In addition, she also taught at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri (1957-59) and Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio (1959). Leticia shared her time between her family and her University teaching. She also contributed to the Oxford Community in many ways such as St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Mary's Parish, Meals on Wheels, McCullough-Hyde Auxillary Hospital, was very active in the Spanish Club, hosted many international exchange students and was an active member in the EQ chapter of the PEO sisterhood. After retirement in 1991 Her husband and Leticia shared an active life filled with travels, cultural activities (such as the Cincinnati Symphony) and enjoyment of their dear children and grandchildren. Leticia is survived by her husband. Mass and a Christian burial will be held on Saturday April 1, 2006 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oxford, Ohio.
