Blaise Jr., a/k/a John Snyder Blaise Shepherd April 2, 2002 Cox Hospital, Springfield, Missouri Cremation by Lohmeyer Funeral Home, Ashes allegedly placed at Veteran Memorial Cemetery My brother died April 2, 2004 at Cox Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for about a week. His only survivor, me, Thomas Mitchell Blaise Shepherd, a brother, did not learn of his death until nearly two years later. Cox Hospital records and Lohmeyer Funeral Home records and death records reveal his last address was the Missouri Hotel, which is affiliated with Victory Mission and The Kitchen, all under the auspices of James M. Harrigar, director of Victory Mission and a member of Springfield Rotary Club. Harrigar and the operators of The Kitchen and the Missouri Hotel have refused to cooperate and reveal information to me regarding my brother's life prior to his death, claiming that I, his only surivior, am not entitled to information about my brother "because it would be an invasion of my brother's privacy." This is absurd. Harrigar had my address and phone number on file prior to my brother's death. I want to know why I was not notified that my brother was ill prior to his death and why I was not notified at his death. I also want to know why his remains were disposed by creamation. I want an investigation of Harrigar and all personnel connected with Victory Mission, the Missouri Hotel, and The Kitchen, as well as of Lohmeyer Funeral Home and Cox Hospital. I have good reason to believe my brother was a victim of foul play. By Missouri law, I should have been contacted at my brother's death. I repeat. Harrgiar knew how to get in touch with me because I had sent him an e-mail, giving him my current address and phone number approximately two months prior to my brother's death. I consider the conduct of James M. Harrigar, Victory Mission, to be irresponsible! I want an investigation of this matter by the Attorney General of Missouri. The last contact I had with my brother was a phone conversation with him at Victory Mission. My brother said, "I cannot talk. Please contact the Springfield Chief of Police." I found the Springfield Police Department to be unhelpful in investigating my brother's complaint. I later learned my brother had been badly beat while living at Victory Mission, so badly beat that he was hospitalized at St. John's Hospital. On another occasion he complained of a back injury as a result of a fall while residing at Victory Mission.
